Payment and Insurance

Northwestern Facial Plastic Surgery prioritizes giving you the best medical care possible. We never want you to worry about procedure costs. Our office staff can answer any billing questions and guide you through the process to avoid confusion about your medical bills.

Discover our payment and insurance options to receive the medical or cosmetic treatment you need without the financial burden. We have flexible payment methods and accept a wide range of insurance policies so you can focus on what matters.

How Much Does Treatment or Surgery Cost?

Every procedure is different in terms of cost and insurance coverage. Your out-of-pocket expenses will depend on the type of procedure or treatment you receive and if your insurance policy covers it.

For example, some insurance providers don’t cover plastic surgery procedures unless they are deemed medically necessary, such as receiving rhinoplasty to repair a deviated septum. In this instance, you may not have to pay for the procedure but could have out-of-pocket costs if you elect to have the same surgery for purely cosmetic purposes. Our team can let you know what each procedure costs, but you should check with your insurance provider to confirm if coverage is available for certain treatments.

We will review each procedure’s price before you schedule your treatment. Remember that surgeries requiring anesthesia tend to cost more than non-invasive procedures.

What Payment Options Do You Have for Treatment?

We require payment for all cosmetic procedures before the scheduled treatment. If your insurance coverage does not include any cosmetic procedures, we accept payment via the following:

  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, and American Express only)
  • Cash
  • Personal checks

Financial assistance may be available if you meet the eligibility requirements.

What Insurance Plans Do You Accept?

As part of the Northwestern Medical Group, we accept a wide range of insurance plans, including:

  • Aetna
  • Beechstreet (PHCS)
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • Coventry Health Care First Health HMO, PPO, and POS

  • Health Alliance PPO and HMO
  • HFN
  • Humana
  • Imagine Health
  • MultiPlan/PHCS
  • The Alliance

We also accept government insurance options like Medicare, Medicaid, and the Veteran Affairs Community Care Network administered by Optum.

Will My Health Insurance Cover My Procedure?

All insurance plans vary in terms of cost and coverage. Government-funded plans like Medicare and Medicaid don’t come with insurance premiums and cover a wide range of medical services, though plastic surgery may be excluded. Commercial plans that require monthly premium payments could extend coverage to cosmetic procedures.

Check with your insurance provider if you’re considering any treatments we offer at Northwestern Facial Plastic Surgery. Your health insurance plan may only cover plastic surgery costs if deemed medically necessary. Always confirm with your insurer that they will cover your medical care before any treatment or surgery.

You should speak with your plastic surgeon about the procedure’s cost and any prescription medication you’ll need during the recovery period. Relay this information to your insurance provider and find out if they will offer full or partial coverage of the treatment. Even if they don’t cover the procedure, your plan might cover the needed medication.

Ask about any documentation necessary to receive coverage and obtain that from your surgeon before moving forward.

What If I Don’t Have Health Insurance?

Don’t worry about payment and insurance if you do not have an insurance plan. Uninsured patients can sign up for coverage throughout November and December, otherwise known as the open enrollment period. You can now shop for plans based on their premiums, in-network providers, and more.

You can sign up for coverage at any point in the year if you have a qualifying life event, such as:

  • Loss of coverage
  • Having a child
  • Getting married
  • Relocating

If you meet the income requirements, you may be eligible for coverage via Medicaid.

What Financing Alternatives Do You Have?

Northwestern Medical Group offers special financing and assistance for qualifying patients. The Financial Assistance Program aims to help uninsured or underinsured people pay for their medical care. This program discounts eligible patients on emergency or medically necessary treatment costs.

Coverage does not extend to elective plastic surgery. However, you can receive a discount on our treatments if you receive medically necessary plastic surgery to correct an injury or deformity.

To apply, visit Northwestern Medicine’s website or one of their affiliate’s Financial Counseling offices. You will need to fill out personal information and details about your finances and bank account.
